Help & Support
Set up SleepWalk, get help with a session, or find your agent tools.
Need a hand? Email support@sleepwalk.app.
Set up closed-lid sessions
- Move SleepWalk to Applications and open it from there.
- Open the SleepWalk menu, choose Settings, then select General.
- Under Background Access, choose the setup action shown. If macOS asks for approval, open System Settings and allow SleepWalk in Login Items & Extensions.
- Return to SleepWalk and wait for Background Access to show as enabled.
Start a session before closing your Mac. SleepWalk restores your previous sleep settings when the session ends.
SleepWalk does not read your prompts, code, files, windows, logs, or network traffic. It does not need Accessibility or Screen Recording access.
Start and manage a session
- Start: Set your safeguards, then choose Start Session. It begins right away.
- App Cleanup: Choose which apps to quit when the session starts, and whether to reopen them when it stops.
- Display: Keep Display Awake and Put Display to Sleep on Start cannot be used together. Stop Session When Display Wakes is available when display sleep is on.
- Stop: Choose Stop Session to restore your previous sleep settings. If SleepWalk shows a recovery action, leave the app open and follow it.
If Start Session is gray, its label explains which battery or temperature safeguard is blocking a new session.
Use SleepWalk with agents
Command-line and agent tools are optional. In Settings → Agents, install or update sleepwalkctl and the SleepWalk skill for a supported agent. Installation locations are shown under each item.
For another compatible agent, use Copy Setup Prompt or open the current SleepWalk skill. SleepWalk does not read agent conversations or decide when a task is finished.
Trial and license
Enter your Polar license key in Settings → License. A paid license is a one-time purchase. The seven-day trial does not charge you automatically.
If activation needs help, restore your internet connection and try again. Do not reset your Mac’s login Keychain. See the purchase terms for refund details.
Fix a problem or remove SleepWalk
- Background Access is unavailable: Follow the next action shown in Settings → General → Background Access. If macOS needs approval, allow SleepWalk in Login Items & Extensions.
- A session will not start: If Start Session is gray, wait for the battery or temperature to return within your selected safeguard.
- You want to remove Background Access: Stop any session, open Settings → General → Background Access, then choose Turn Off Background Access… and follow the confirmation. Delete SleepWalk from Applications afterward.
If SleepWalk cannot confirm that your previous sleep settings are restored, leave it open and contact support. Use Reveal Logs in Finder only when support asks; review the files before sharing.
When you email support, include your Mac model, macOS version, SleepWalk version, and the message you saw. Never send a license key or Keychain export.
